Editorial policy
Every article on Campervan Japan Itineraries is written under this policy.
1. Article types
Articles fall into three types. The type is shown at the top of each article.
- Reference
- Official rules and figures arranged so they can be compared
- Itinerary
- A route or a task laid out step by step
- Comparison
- Options lined up on the same criteria, without a ranking
2. Where our facts come from
- Rental conditions come from each rental company's official pages. Tolls, road rules and parking rules come from expressway operators, facilities and public bodies.
- Every distance, fee, condition and rule is shown with its source and the date we checked it.
- Distances and driving times in itineraries are approximate planning figures, not measured drives.
- We do not publish a figure without a source.
3. What we do not do
- The editors have not driven these routes, and we do not write as if we had.
- We do not state that a specific roadside station allows an overnight stay, or that a road is open in a given season. We quote what the official page says and point you to the facility or road operator for confirmation.
- We do not rank rental companies. Comparisons list each company's own stated conditions side by side.
4. Advertising and partner links
- Articles that contain advertising or partner links show "This article has partner links." near the top.
- A partnership does not change which options an article includes or how they are described.
- An article written at an advertiser's request says so at the top.
5. Updates and corrections
- We review articles when a source changes. The updated date is shown on each article.
- When we find a mistake, we correct it and note what changed and when at the end of the article.
6. Who writes
Articles are written by the Campervan Japan Itineraries Editors. We do not publish personal travel stories presented as our own experience.
7. Use of generative AI
We may use generative AI for drafting and structuring. Before publication, every article is checked against its sources, and figures are matched to the official pages they cite. Articles that have not passed this check are not published.
